This past weekend we went to the mountains for our church’s couples retreat at Deer Valley Ranch. We had a wonderful 2-night stay. Dr. Bob Jones III and his wife Beneth were our speakers. What a great time of fellowship we had with each other and around God’s word. The weather was beautiful. The fall colors were at their peak, and I couldn’t stop taking pictures on the drive up and back. At night the sky was very clear and we could see the Milky Way. On the way back to our cabin Friday night after, the service we stood outside for about 15 minutes just looking at the sky. It was amazing. We greatly enjoyed God’s beautiful creation.

Can you believe it? Esther took her fist steps last night, and we didn’t even see them. She was at church, and we were out on visitation. When we got back to church they told us she was walking and we didn’t believe it. We thought we were being teased. They said that Esther was standing in the middle of the room and took about 4 steps. They didn’t know it was her first steps. Well, we tried to get her to walk for us again. She took a few steps on her own with much coaxing, and we were proud of her. I guess we really did see some of her first steps. Esther loves to stand. I wonder if she realized she walked on her own? I wonder if it will continue?

This past Friday and Saturday, myself and nine others from Highlands Baptist Church set out on a quest to run the 2008 Colorado Relay.  This is a 174 mile relay race that goes over 3 mountain passes from Georgetown to Carbondale.  Each runner has 3 sections of varying length.  I ran a total of about 22 miles.  All ten runners got through without any major injuries and we were able to cross the finish line together (which is a relay requirement to finish). 

We met at 3:30am Friday morning, drove to Georgetown, CO and our first runner started off at 5:33am.  The weather was horrible – cold with heavy rain that turned to sleet and snow the higher up the pass they went.  The top of Guanella and Georgia pass each had at least four inches of snow.  We eventually got a break in the weather by Friday afternoon and had cold, but clear skies through Friday night into Saturday.  

The team did a great job.  Everyone did their best, ran their hearts out, and encouraged everyone on the way.  If you want to learn more about our experience you can find some pictures and testimonials at the links provided.  Thanks for your prayers and support!

Tonight Kenny & Kelly Mihalik ate dinner with us.  Kenny and I spent time this afternoon before dinner working on my bookcases.  I hope to have them finished and in my office soon!  

After dinner we had a great time playing some games of “Sequence.”  We took a break and decided to play around with photo booth before enjoying my wife’s homemade Peach Pie.  

Here’s why we laughed so hard we were crying!

We had a great relaxing Labor Day. We went to a park with some friends and had a picnic lunch. It was such a beautiful day. It is hard to believe that September is already here. Today it is cool and feels like fall. Hope you enjoy to pictures.
